Much like karma, The Mirror reflects the impact of things around us. Until now, it’s been difficult to trace how our actions, purchases, and involvements truly affect the world around us.

We tend to filter ourselves and not really have an overview of what we own and consume, but since none of us wants to record private behaviour on potentially public records we have thus far never been able to have an interactive database of what we consume.

At the same time, we do want a clear overview — not just of how much stuff we have, but of where it came from. We want transparency, not just into the value chain behind our food, clothes, and tools, but into the details: how they were grown, what materials they’re made of, what energy was used, and under what conditions they were produced.

Without this, it becomes difficult — if not impossible — to act in a way that’s truly aligned with our values. We’re left guessing.

The Mirror brings our choices into view. It tracks information about products from participating producers who believe their goods can stand up to scrutiny.

Each Mirror is personal. It collects only what we choose to list — and it isn’t stored on a third-party cloud. It lives in a private, user-owned canister on the Internet Computer.
